ANCHOR: Worries about food safety have been mounting in Japan. In the latest scare a Japanese ham and sausage producer is recalling 13 of its products. Heres more. STORY: Last week, nine cups of noodles were found to contain poison, and one maker recalled half a million cups of the popular product. And this week toxic substances were found in underground water used at a factory owned by Itoham Foods. The company says the plant near Tokyo has cyanide ions and cyanogen chloride at levels that exceed Japanese standards. Japanese supermarkets are encouraging consumers to return the tainted products. [Manager, Shimadaya Supermarket]: (DO NOT TITLE BAR) "We give refunds to customers when they bring these products back to our store." The company says the levels pose no threat to health and fall below the standard set by the World Health Organization. [Shinichi Yamada, Itoham Foods]: "We deeply apologize for this incident." Itoham is Japan's second-largest processor of ham and sausages. Consumers have had to put up with toxic food coming from China. Earlier this year several Japanese became ill eating toxic dumplings that were made in China.
