Fabio, a young male cat living in Houston, TX, was as gentle and trusting of humans as a ragdoll -- the breed renowned for lying as limp as ragdolls in people's arms. However, Fabio had an underdeveloped immune system. He was sick when we brought him in as a kitten, with an eye infection and ringworm. He later struggled with inflammatory bowel issues. Then, in August, 2008, when he was just one year old, he lost nearly 50% of his body weight in four weeks' time. He reacted briefly to medication, but then developed chest congestion and lost his appetite completely. His left kidney showed signs of possible cystosis or cancer. Despite our attempts to save him, it became clear that we were only prolonging his suffering. He was put to sleep August 28, 2008, at about 5:00 pm. This was his adoption video. At first, when we didn't understand the extent of his problems, it seemed he was losing weight due to stress, so we made every effort to find him a low-stress home.
