Wanting to cut back on your carbon emissions and do your bit to save the planet. That is why many people are looking at replacing their fossil fuel guzzling heating systems with heat pump systems.? This article provides insight into the three types of heat pumps that on sale today in the UK. Which heat pump system do you think would best suit your home needs?

As you probably know, heat pump technology taps into existing heat that surrounds us. This natural heat supply is widely available in the air surrounding us, beneath the soil outside and also within water? such as streams and lakes. To collect the heat from each one of these requires a different type of heat pump. The three categories of heat pumps are Air Source heat pumps, Water Source heat pumps and Ground Source heat pumps.

First is the Air Source heat pump system. This heat pump system is quite simple to install into a property and is one of the cheaper heat pump options to consider. Air Source heat pumps come in stand alone units that can be placed inside or outside your property. The great thing is that there is no need to do any preparation digging or groundwork for the units. In simple terms the Air Source heat pump sucks in air from outside, extracts heat from this and then uses this heat to provide warmth and hot water for a property. Noise-wise, Air Source heat pumps are relatively quiet and make no more noise than a home dishwasher. This type of heat pump system can provide 100% of your home and hot water heating. It can also provide you home with cool air during the Summer months!

The next type of heat pump system is the Ground Source heat pump. As the name implies, this system collects and uses natural heat source that is located underground. Heat harvesting is achieved by laying down loops of pipes approximately a meter underground. Alternatively these pipes can be lowered and sealed into a deep bore hole that can be up to 150 meters deep. Ground Source heat pump systems make use of the constant temperature of heat beneath the ground to efficently provide us with heat and hot water. You will probably have guessed that the Ground Source heat pump does not make any? noise whilst in operation.

The final category of heat pump system is referred to as Water Source heat pumps. Again, it really does not need much imagination to fathom out that this system collects naturally occuring heat within bodies of water such as streams and lakes. This time round loops of pipes are submerged deep below the surface of the body of water being used. This type of heat pump system is productive in harvesting heat energy within a watre source as temperatures there remain relatively constant.

So where can you discover more about the heat pump systems mentioned above? One of the best ways is the Internet. There are many more articles, news items and blogs which will tell you more about the pros and cons of these systems. You could may choose also to browse the websites of the specialist companies who sell heat pump systems.? One of these companies is called EcoVision.
